The Sportschau is a well-known sports website, app and TV show in Germany. In 2021, ARD, a broadcaster, acquired exclusive broadcasting rights for major sports events like the Bundesliga, European championships, Olympics, and Tour de France. As a result, the app needed a modern redesign and updated functionality.
– Solution
Since you hardly have any control over the quality of the content, especially the images, with an editorial app fed by a wide variety of data sources, creating a framework that considers this fact is extremely important. The complexity of the content requires a good balance between flexibility and consistency. The design should be restrained on the one hand but still clearly structured and aesthetic.
To implement this efficiently, we used React Native as the framework.
